COLOSSEUM & ROMAN FORUM - SKIP THE LINE ENTRANCE WITH AN ARCHAEOLOGIST.

COLOSSEUM TOUR

Skip the Line Entrance with an Archaeologist

Step back in time and enter the beating heart of Ancient Rome. The Colosseum is not just an architectural masterpiece – it is a living monument to human drama. Built in 70 AD under Emperor Vespasian and completed by his son Titus, the amphitheater once held over 50,000 spectators, all gathered to witness the spectacle of blood and glory.

With your private archaeologist guide, you’ll bypass the lines and descend into the past. Walk through the same arched corridors that echoed with the roar of the crowd. Stand on the arena floor and imagine the clash of steel, the thunder of hooves, and the desperate courage of the gladiators – slaves, prisoners of war, or volunteers who fought for honor, freedom, or fame.

These men, and sometimes women, lived and died in the arena, cheered or condemned by the emperor’s thumb. Your guide will bring their stories to life with historical insight and emotional depth, using ancient sources and archaeological evidence.

But the Colosseum is only part of the story. You will explore the Roman Forum – once the center of public life, politics, and religion. Walk along the Via Sacra, where generals marched in triumph. Visit temples, basilicas, and the Curia where senators debated the fate of the empire.

Climb to the Palatine Hill, where Romulus is said to have founded Rome, and where emperors built their lavish palaces. You’ll also visit the Palatine Museum and any temporary exhibits showcasing Rome’s archaeological treasures.

Upon request and with enough notice, access to the arena floor is available to experience the Colosseum from a gladiator’s point of view. In some periods, it is also possible to book entry to the underground Hypogeum – the hidden backstage of the arena where animals and fighters awaited their fate. Please note: access to the underground areas must be arranged several months in advance.
