WINTER LINE SECTOR- MEDAL OF HONOR WWII TOUR

WINTER LINE SECTOR: MEDAL OF HONOR TOUR

This tour is designed to follow the footsteps of three heroes who were awarded the Medal of Honor, the United States’ highest military decoration for extraordinary valor above and beyond the call of duty.

Capt. Maurice L. Britt – Monte Rotondo, 10 November 1943

3rd Infantry Division, 30th Regiment, Company L.
“For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Disdaining enemy hand grenades and close‑range machine pistols… Lt. Britt inspired and led a handful of his men… personally killed five and wounded an unknown number of Germans… fired five clips… and threw 32 fragmentation grenades.”

Pfc. Floyd K. Lindstrom, Monte La Defensa, 11 November 1943

3rd Infantry Division 7th Regiment
“For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at risk of life above and beyond the call of duty… Pfc. Lindstrom saw that his small section was alone… he immediately deployed… opened fire with his single gun… Unable to knock out the enemy nest from his original position…”

Sgt. Joe C. Specker – Mount Porchia, 7 January 1944

48th Engineer Combat Battalion.
“For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at risk of life, above and beyond the call of duty. Voluntarily and alone he made his way up the mountain… Though so seriously wounded he continued to drag himself. He set up the gun so well and fired so accurately that the enemy machine‑gun nest was silenced.”

You will discover the personal stories of these men who risked everything — their legacy lives on in the land they helped liberate.
